GAUDEAMO: A SYSTEM FOR ENERGETIC/EXERGETIC OPTIMIZATION OF COAL POWER PLANTS.


Abstract:

The GUADEAMO System is an integrated set of more than 250 FORTRAN routines running on DEC computers which carries out the daily energy management, the exergy audit from plant performance tests, and the process simulation of a Central Power Plant. The system is divided into three main sections. The first section is devoted to the daily management of plant data and the calculation of Boiler and Plant efficiencies (in overall mode). The second section is devoted to the exergetic analysis of the Boiler, Steam Cycle and Cooling System, using the data obtained in periodic Plant Efficiency Tests (ASME Tests) left bracket 1,2 right bracket . If we take 50-100 precise measurements from the plant, then we have 50-100 independent data which can be interpreted in the light of exergy analysis. The third section is devoted to process simulation of the Steam Cycle, Condenser and Cooling Tower. The combined process simulation allows many coupled effects, which occur in everyday plant operation and are due to both internal and external state variations, to be investigated.
