GUPFC Modeling for Power Flow Analysis in MVDC Grids

Abstract:

Medium Voltage Direct Current (MVDC) grid is a new grid concept that can be used as an additional stage of infrastructure in the electrical network between transport and distribution levels. This paper introduces a modeling for Generalized Unified Power Flow Controller (GUPFC) FACTS device based on power injection method, where this model is represented by NEPLAN software. It is considered to be a very powerful and versatile device that enables the maximization of power system efficiency and reliability. The implementation of the model is established by using local components of NEPLAN software to enable studies and analyses carried out by such software including GUPFC. The model is tested on IEEE 30 bus standard system in various cases to ensure the versatility and effectiveness of it for power system analyses including GUPFC.
