Gender differences in daily stress and depressive symptomatology among Mexican early adolescents

Abstract:

The main objective of this paper is to identify likenesses and differences on frequency of conflictive situations between males and females in their relationships with parents and friends, as well as the depressive symptoms derived of those experiences. The sample was of 628 (13-15 years old) junior high students, from public and private schools in south Mexico City, divided in 307 males and 321 females. The 'ADSI' and 'CES-D' tests were used in self-administrated format. The results showed that most of the conflictive situations with significant statistical differences were experienced more frequently by females than males.
