General purpose register processor unit based on TTL technologies

Abstract:

The general purpose register unit (GPR) is the fundamental part of a calculation system. This computing tool is compound by combinational and sequential circuits based on logic gates and VLSI tools like multiplexors, decoders and full adders. The idea to use register of general purpose (GPR) in order to store the data and microoperations it is to allow to make agile the processes and to generate a flow greater of microinstructions. During the study of the architecture of the computer, like obligatory matter of the career of Engineering in Computation, all the processes related from the perspective of the combinational logic are analyzed obtaining through this method the construction of diverse models based on the practical utility that it is desired to give him. One of the obstacles perceived in the course of the dictation of the chair was the practical application of this tool of the knowledge. This obstacle was solved designing a processor unit of registries of general purpose of four bits based on generic circuits VLSI TTL such as the 74173, 74139, 74153, 74181 allowing with the this physical exploration the handling of the microoperations and the bit stream within a calculation system. This application dictates in a later matter to architecture of the computer, denominated Digital Systems; course this obligatory one within the career of Engineering in Computation.
