Genotoxic damage, oxidative stress and xenobiotic metabolism changes produced by the exposure of the complex mixture of toluene, chloroform and methylene chloride
Abstract:
The complex mixture of volatile organic compounds chloroform, methylene chloride and toluene has been described in the Atoyac and Xochiac rivers (Tlaxcala, México)(Montero2006) and increased genotoxic damage was found in people who live close to the streams. These compounds are ubiquitous pollutants in urban environments, but the levels reached in the air due to the pollution in the rivers could be higher, making important the study of this mixture.
