Geohelminthiasis in school children from 5 to 10 years in coastal cantons of the Province of Guayas, Ecuador, 2019
Abstract:
Intestinal parasites are agents that cause neglected infectious diseases (EID) more common in humans, being women and children (between 1 and 14 years) vulnerable to this parasitosis. To determine the pbkp_redisposing factors in infectious diseases by geohelminthiasis in schoolchildren from 5 to 10 years in coastal cantons of the Province of Guayas, Ecuador, for the year 2019 was the objective, addressed as a descriptive, cross-sectional study, with analytical component. Students (n=300) from educational institutions located in rural and marginal urban sectors formed the sample. The data were collected through two surveys and the analysis of the same was made with the program Excel 7.0 applying descriptive statistics. Results: among the prevalent parasitic forms: A. lumbricoides 35.61% (n=99), T. trichiura 18.71% (n=52) and 16.55% (n=46) for uncinarias. Among the pbkp_redisposing factors in both housing and educational institutions. It was noted that: 55.45% consume drinking water from common or artisanal wells, tanks or artisanal aqueducts, in the rural sector 47.27% showed inadequate treatment of excreta, in 42.73% waste is buried, in the washing of hands before eating, the option sometimes ranged from 59.09% to 57.78%. These results show that these populations (with levels of poverty, poor access to drinking water, inadequate management of excreta and lack of basic services) constitute ecological niches that facilitate the development of geohelminths. It is suggested to promote school-community training programs related to EID produced by geohelminths, a joint action between educational centers and health centers.
