Giant pleural mesothelioma. Case presentation
Abstract:
We describe a 50-year-old patient treated, for presenting a general picture and respiratory distress and on chest x-ray a uniform condensation of the three lower fourths of the left lung field with significant deviation of the heart and mediastinum to the right that compresses the right lung significantly, without signs of effusion, operated at La Dolorosa private hospital, Chimborazo province, Ecuador, by Dr. Rodrigo Fiallo Cobos. The computerized axial tomography corroborates a large irregular solid mass, which occupies 90% of the left hemithorax. The histopathological result corresponded with giant benign fibrous tumor (benign mesothelioma) of pleura. After the thoracotomy the patient dies, due to the giant tumor mass and the maintained vital organs involvement.
