Global Plaza: Creating an inclusive and equitable space at high-level conferences

Abstract:

The participation of researchers and professionals from different areas of knowledge in the most renowned congresses is generally limited by the lack of financial resources. The lack of financing options and access to media that facilitate attendance to these types of activities increase the digital gap, particularly between people who belong to the Global South with respect to the Global North. This paper presents a hybrid collaboration proposal that took place in one of the most relevant congresses in its computing-related area with the intention of providing participation alternatives for as many people as possible.
