Global solar radiation in the provinces El Oro, Loja and Zamora Chinchipe, Ecuador. Use of reanalysis data of the daytime cloud cover

Abstract:

In this work is presented an approach to the theoretical solar radiation in El Oro, Loja and Zamora Chinchipe provinces (Ecuador), from the Hottel's Model, considering the daylight cloud amount and using atmospheric transmittance, solar zenith angle, altitude, and climate type. Resulting Global Solar Radiation amounts using altitudes of the Digital Terrain Model of the study area are shown for annual totals and for the months of January and August. Conclusions and recommendations are given.
