Good practices in ecotourism. Case study: Guayas province, Ecuador

Abstract:

Ecotourism is an activity that by its nature seeks to balance the interaction of people with natural spaces, and the preservation of resources. Ecuadorian legislation establishes that protected areas have tourist use as long as they are developed in accordance with their environmental management plans. The province of Guayas has been taken as a case study to diagnose the current compliance of the baseline criteria proposed in the methodology as well as the requirements and expectations of ecotourists in the province.
