Google maps route color mapping with SUMO simulator
Abstract:
This article details the tests carried out in the Urban Mobility Simulator (SUMO), to obtain the vehicle traffic speed ranges to which the colors presented on Google Maps roads correspond. For the simulations are selected the three main access roads of the Metropolitan District of Quito as test areas. Each scenario was simulated with three different ranges of hours, which means that traffic statistics are found in these schedules as input parameters for vehicle density. The purpose of this mapping is to obtain more precise values of the speed assignment by the colors that represent the vehicular traffic that is displayed on Google Maps. So that eventually the possibility of assigning a number of vehicles based on the color of the roads is analyzed and so they can be used as input variables in other simulation scenarios in SUMO.
