Abstract:

The School Farm “My green world” will be a center for children living in close relationship with nature. A company that provides service activities related to the environment and the concept of ecology, such as food processing, plating the garden, paper recycling, recreational games, animal care and alternative workshops. All these activities are designed for children from 6-12 years from private establishments in the city of Quito. It will be a supplementary educational ecology center to apply learning resources, practical experience in the natural, agricultural and artisan sectors, favoring the disposition of children to the discovery of processes of care of small animals and processing of food products. Several macro factors in the economic and social areas favor the service of the school farm. Through the 5 Porter forces, regarded as the microenvironment, we have identified threats and opportunities for service. The survey conducted with surveying parents, interviews with education experts and the conducting a focus group determined the acceptance of the activities described by the farm school to the target market. 83% of those polled have fully agreed that their children should perform field activities too. The results indicate that the proposed methodology (learning by doing) had a 74% acceptance by respondents. Have been taken into account a combination of relevant strategies to position the farm services from the start, like the farm school segmentation, placing a higher price, fit and create new activities for customers and interact directly with them in order to know their needs, and finally, the promotion has established a website, sales promotion and personal visits.
