Grounded group decision making (GGDM) model
Abstract:
The importance of enhancing group decision making and involving different professionals in decision making process is obvious. The current research has been carried out to develop a integrative group decision-making method. It is to meet the requirement of integrative and consensus-value-based approach in group decision making. Literature review highlights the basic needs of integrative group decision making. In this regards, the research presents a new group decision making Model called 'Grounded-Group Decision Making (GGDM)' Model. It specifically considers decision makers' justification during a decision making process. The research addresses two objectives. First, it is to investigate the current body of knowledge in group decision making methods and, to extract constrains faced by previous researchers. Secondly, it is to develop a new multiple criteria group decision making method which considerably reduces constrains and shortcomings of existing methods and models. GGDM was developed based on four (4) investigated group decision making assumptions. To validate the GGDM model, a pilot study was conducted. Four consecutive rounds of close-group discussion with field professionals were held to validate a specific research proposal as the case study. In conclusion, GGDM model provided considerably more accurate, integrative, and consensus-value-based results, in comparison with, traditional methods of group decision making. © 2013 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
