Growing grass Panicum maximum cv Mombaza in the Ecuadorian Amazon
Abstract:
Different experiments indicate adaptation to diverse ecosystems of the genus Panicum. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the growth of the species Panicum maximum cv Mombaza conditions of the Ecuadorian Amazon. The research was conducted at the Station of Pastures and Forages Research Center and Graduate (CIPCA) belonging to the Amazon State University. And age (x: independent): A randomized block design and regression analysis between the variables height (dependent y) employ. A standardization cut five inches off the ground was held on June 20, 2013, to assess the effect of age after cutting equalization in plant development. Plots of 25 m2 were used in Inseptisol ground. Up to 12, 19, 33, 40, 48, 55, 62 and 70 days of age was determined. Starting with these measurements growth curves, the absolute and relative rates of growth and functional relationship between age and the yield was made, adjusting the latter to a quadratic equation. We conclude that the grass Panicum maximum cv. Mombaza is promising for the soil and climatic conditions of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
