HUMIC ACIDS AND THEIR EFFECT ON MORPHOMETRIC VARIABLES IN CARROT PLANTS (Daucus carota L)
Abstract:
Humic substances have profound physical, chemical and biological effects on the soil, with a stimulating effect for the growth of plants These substances influence the mobility of nonionic organic compounds such as pesticides and contaminants, removing them from aqueous solutions. The objective of the present study was to determine the effect of humic acids on the morphometry of carrot plants, which were subjected to the application of humic acids at 10 mg/L and a control treatment. The study was carried out in a greenhouse-type structure with shade of 40%. Carrot root length, fresh root biomass, leaf length, leaf fresh biomass and upper diameter were measured. Results showed that the applied humic acids favored the development of the morphometric variables in carrot plants with values of 20 cm for root length and 102 g for biomass. The response between carrot plants and the application of humic acids is …
