Handling of liquefied petroleum gas in Panama
Abstract:
To meet several of the energy needs in Panama, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is used in residential, commercial and industrial applications. In order to use this fuel, systems are required that include vessels and pipes for transportation to consumer equipment. The installation of these systems must meet minimum safety requirements established by national and international standards that the Competent Authority of the country recognizes and adopts. It has been possible to verify some recurring faults in facilities for this fuel in Panama, so that this document not only indicates these non-compliances with the minimum guidelines established in national and international standards, but also proposes some recommendations aimed at improving safety and reducing the risk generated by the handling of this fuel in the Panamanian territory.
