Harmonious coexistence, Sumak Kawsay: A counter-hegemonic contribution from the Andean process
Abstract:
This essay proposes to look at social and political evolutions in the Andean region related to demands for constitutional processes and the drawing up of new constitutions in Ecuador and Bolivia. One of the most profound contributions these two countries make to this process is recovery of the Sumak Kawsay concept belonging to the uechua indigenous peoples, and based on this, the formulation of Harmonious Coexistence as a horizon for transformation. This concept represents a concrete contribution to the counter-hegemonic struggle in the first decade of the XXIst century.
