Health and new information and communication technologies: Characterization of the object of the right to health in the digital age
Abstract:
The social perception of health and the definition built around it has been changing over time as a reflection of the prevailing values in the different stages of human evolution and the development of science, demanding equally dynamic responses from the right for its guarantee and protection. Since the twentieth century –on account of its importance for the quality of life and dignity of people– health is protected through the international human rights system, both being affected by the development of information and communication technologies reached by contemporary society. The research consists in an academic reflection on the subject from a multidisciplinary perspective, in the light of the definition of health developed in postmodernity and of the risks that threaten it in the digital age.
