Holistic and optimized life-cycle integrated support for energy-efficient building design and construction: HOLISTEEC methodology
Abstract:
The HOLISTEEC project aims at designing, developing, and demonstrating a BIM-based, on-the-cloud, collaborative building design software platform, featuring advanced design support for multicriteria building optimization. In the framework of HOLISTEEC project, the first step towards the optimization of the overall building design process is put forward in this paper and corresponds to the definition of a "full life-cycle aware" novel design methodology. This methodology, after being properly validated, will constitute the basis for the implementation of a BIM infrastructure suitable for the development of dedicated design evaluation tools (i.e. architectural, structural, acoustic, energy, lighting and environmental calculation engines), providing grounded feedback to the design and a multi-criteria decision tool for selecting the optimal design solution. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group.
