Humanism and translation in the Renaissance: The reception of Aristotle's works

Abstract:

One of the legacies of the Renaissance to our time is the recovery and dissemination of Aristotle's works. The Spanish and Italian humanists played a great role in the recovery and transmission of Aristotle's thinking; nevertheless, they differed in the ways of doing so, especially with regard to translation. In this sense, in this work, I examine these movements of recovery of ancient knowledge and inquire very briefly about the controversies surrounding translation in Humanism, in order to visualize their implications in receiving Aristotle's works in the Renaissance.
