Hypomelanosis of Ito
Abstract:
Hypomelanosis of Ito (HI) is a rare multisystem neurocutaneous syndrome considered the third most common neurocutaneous disorder after neurofibromatosis and tuberous sclerosis, with incidence of 1 in 7,540 live births worldwide. This paper reports the case of a female infant with a history of convulsive syndrome who was referred to the dermatologist due to presenting, from birth, linear bilateral hypochromic spots following the lines of Blaschko, affecting trunk and extremities. For clinical data and additional studies the diagnosis of hypomelanosis of Ito was done. No reports of this syndrome in Ecuador were found in literature.
