ICT technological tools as an alternative element for the development of the physical component

Abstract:

The present research focused on demonstrating the positive impact of the use of ICTs as an alternative element responding to the problem of non-attendance during the development of the physical component. The study design is experimental, employing a population of 70 officers of the XVII Ascent of the School of Specialization and Improvement of the National Police of Ecuador. The analysis focused on five indicators: Rapidity, Resistance to Strength, Anaerobic Performance, Aerobic Performance (Cooper Test), and Maximum Oxygen Consumption (VO2 max). A general screening is performed as the first step, followed by the elaboration of a program to improve Physical Condition, which is then shared through a process of pedagogic intervention in which six physical trainers participate; following the methodological logic of the instrumental system of the project, the process of messaging, interaction, control, and monitoring of physical preparation with an individualized approach is done using ICTs: Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Email. Data analysis was performed by strata, as results from each test were subjected to a goodness-of-fit test: Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS). Based on it, a parametric test (Student’s T) was run through the statistical package SPSS 23.0. Results of each test showed significant changes after the intervention, being p=.000. Consequently, Hi was accepted and H0 was rejected, demonstrating that the use of the ICTs may promote the compliance with the physical fitness program proposed by the trainers.
