IDE selection methodology for the development of Android applications


Abstract:

This article describes the result of having carried out a study on the IDE tools that currently exist in the technological market for the development of applications compatible with the Android operating system. I do analysis of the mobile devices and IDE tools in terms of their characteristics, components and structure for the development of mobile applications on Android. The purpose of this research is to establish a methodology for selecting IDE for the development of Android applications, by analyzing and evaluating its characteristics and components, to verify that it helps to improve the productivity of the programmer. The expert survey methodology is proposed, which is composed of two elements, ISO/IEC 9126 and descriptive statistics metrics. The methodology is applied through a simple form designed in Google Drive, the tools that are evaluated for the selection are Eclipse, NetBeans and Android Studio, the data obtained are processed and finally it is determined which is the best option for the development of applications on Android.
