INFLUENCE OF SOCIOECONOMIC AND CULTURAL FACTORS ON FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY AND RADIOLOGICAL DAMAGE IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS: 123
Abstract:
Certain socioeconomic and cultural factors have been associated with a worse prognosis in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Most of these data come from first world countries, as information is scarce in developing countries. Objective: To evaluate the functional capacity and radiologic damage in RA patients with socioeconomic differences cared for at private and public centers. Material and Methods: The study included consecutive patients with RA (ACR'87). Demographic and socioeconomics variables, comorbid conditions, extra-articular manifestations and treatment received were recorded. Disease activity was evaluated by, ERS, CRP and DAS 28. Functional capacity was evaluated by HAQ-A. Hand and foot x-rays were evaluated by 7 trained observers with good inter/intraobserver agreement using the Sharp-van der Heidje score (CCI> 0.7).
