INTELLIGENT GLOVE (iGLOVE) for traffic enforcers


Abstract:

Traffic has a huge impact on the way of life of people. Authorities sought many solutions to ease and improve the flow of traffic; lessen travel times, optimizing not only vehicular movement but also that of persons, goods and services. These aforementioned observable traffic conditions and cases of traffic enforcement, prompted the researchers to come up with the idea of creating a device that is designed to aid traffic enforcers for more effective control of traffic management. The device provided a glove wearable technology that interpreted hand gestures made by the enforcer using different sensors that measure movements. The sensor and gesture values derived and generated by the traffic enforcer were transmitted to the receiver and displayed it to the traffic light. These commands included the bending of the finger by 45° and pointing of the lane where wanted to be on the 'Go' signal. Moreover, this device was applicable and suited for narrow and complicated roads. Also, the traffic officer can managed the traffic congestion better because he can see what phase is currently congested. In addition, the traffic officer can give way for ambulance to pass through for emergency and other purposes. The creation and integration of the iGlove showed the 100% effectiveness and functionality of the device within 10 meters radius and depreciated on the succeeding 15 meters to 20meters by 90% to 85% respectively.
