ITERPREaco DE LA Evolucro vERrcaL E LA cuBETA PLocEA DE VILLARROYA (STERRA DE CAMEROS, LA RIOJA): IMPLICACIONES TECTONICAS Y
Abstract:
Two Tectosedimentary Units, integrated by alluvial and lacustrine facies, have been characterized in the Pliocene Villarroya Basin. The lower unit, mainly formed by lacustrine facies organized as shallowing sequences, shows a fining-up evolution, which corresponds to a period of decelerated or null tectonic activity after the tectonic maximun that originated the basin. The upper unit, mainly composed of alluvial facies, has a coarsening-up evolution, which is referable to a climatic change towards drier conditions. This fact allows us to characterize the boundary between the two units as a sedimentary break of climatic origin.
