Identificación del Síndrome de Burnout y su relación con la edad de los médicos y enfermeras en el Área de Anestesiología de un hospital público de la ciudad de Quito.


Abstract:

The present study was carried out in a Public Health Institution of the city of Quito, with the participation of 26 health professionals, of whom 18 physicians and 08 nurses from the area of anesthesiology were divided, in order to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome and its three dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low performance) and the relationship with the age of the health professionals participating in the research. The methodological process used during the investigation was exploratory, where the burnout syndrome was examined as a labor affectation that has not been addressed in other contexts and the instruments used were the following: sociodemographic questionnaire, Maslach burnout inventories, health questionnaire mental, multidimensional scale of evaluation of coping styles, MOS social support questionnaire and Eysenck's revised personality questionnaire. Once the results have been reached, the respective conclusions and recommendations that will be of excellent value in the continuous improvement of the organizational climate of that public health institution are presented. Within which a particular case of burnout presence was determined in the group of physicians represented in 5.6% of the total sample and no case of this syndrome in the nursing staff.
