Imaging Techniques in the Study of Toxoplasma Gondii

Abstract:

From simple slide observation to cutting edge methods (e. g., electron tomography and super-resolution microscopy), Imaging and Image Analysis are important steps in any research project. The use of light and electron microscopy techniques have been used extensively to study Toxoplasma gondii cell biology and its interaction with the host cell, leading to recent discoveries and characterizations. Here we will discuss these techniques and how they have been applied in the Toxoplasma field. We will also discuss sample preparation and Image Analysis set-ups. We will conclude by presenting newly developed approaches that we think are the new areas that will be important for novel discoveries.
