Impact of Directional Antennas on Link Probability and Connectivity in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks
Abstract:
In this article, we analyze the impact of directional antennas on the link probability and network connectivity in wireless ad-hoc networks when they are modeled as a geometric random graph. The link probability is expressed as a function of the antenna gains installed in the nodes and the connectivity is determined as a function of the average hop count in the wireless network. We demonstrated through simulations that the link probability model proposed in this work which considers the directional gain of the antennas offers a more realistic representation of the directional transmissions compared with the traditional log-normal model in wireless ad-hoc networks with multiple hops.
