Impact of non-ISI scientific journals, throughout the indicator visibility-impact: an alternative for the region

Abstract:

Is presented the new indicator Visibility-impact, as an alternative in order to measure science repercussion in Iberoamerican region, regarding scientific journals, that are not included in the databases of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Are given its characteristics as a multiaspect indicator and is highlighted that based on it, can be made an integrated analysis, from a synergic and systemic approach, to measure the activity, productivity and development of the technological and scientific work. Are included several of the most general applications, as well as its graphical representation, also is emphasized that the expert criteria is indispensable in order to understand bibliometric results.
