Impact of obesity on survival and recurrence of high grade serous carcinoma of the ovary.

e17081 Background: Obesity is a public health problem in most developed countries, with growing incidence in the last decades. Epidemiologic studies associate obesity with increased risk of developing ovarian cancer, however, its impact on survival and recurrence is not well established. High grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC) is the most common histology and has a high mortality rate. The aim of this study was to determine if a high Body Mass Index (BMI) before platinum based chemotherapy in advanced stage HGSC is associated with poor progression free (PFS) or overall survival (OS).
