57. Local ischemic compression effects in subjects with myofascial pain: a kinematic study

Abstract:

Methods: Seven control and six MTrPs subjects performed ellipse drawings before and after LICa on the trapezius muscle. Movement time, travelled distance, vertical and horizontal peak velocities, principal and minor axis lengths were recorded under five orientations (horizontal [H], vertical [V], oblique toward the right [R], the left [L] and subject’s preferred direction [P]). Pre-and postpain levels (EVA) and PPT were assessed. Results: In the spontaneous condition, all subjects decreased their movement time and horizontal peak velocities after LICa. However, the travelled distance and principal axis lengths increased. When the drawings were performed as fast as possible, MTrPs group had lower horizontal peak velocities in the P orientation. Conversely, the principal axis lengths were longer in the H orientation. None of these kinematic differences reached statistical significance. The MTrPs group demonstrated a …
