Impacto del estilo de vida sobre el imc de los trabajadores recolectores de basura, EMAC 2017.


Abstract:

BACKGROUND: The current concern for maintaining health has created numerous prevention programs, considering unhealthy lifestyles as factors that promote disease. The majority of health problems are increasingly in young and economically active populations, the increase in chronic noncommunicable diseases is greater and are linked to inadequate lifestyles. OBJECTIVE: To determine the impact of lifestyle on the Body Mass Index of garbage collection workers of the EMAC, 2017. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive - transversal type study. We worked with a finite universe of 107 participants, belonging to the collection area of the EMAC (Municipal Toilet Company of Cuenca). For this research the Nola Pender Lifestyle Profile Questionnaire (PEPS-I) was used, which quantitatively measures the healthy lifestyle of the individual in relation to their Body Mass Index. We worked with the programs: Word, Excel, SPSS version 22. The results were made in frequency and percentage tables. RESULTS: Regarding the relationship of lifestyle with the Body Mass Index, 6.5% of workers are in normal weight and have a regular lifestyle, while 27.1% have a very good lifestyle. 14.9% of workers who are overweight have a regular lifestyle, while 37.3% of them have a very good lifestyle. Of the 13.9% of workers who are in Obesity grade I and II all have a regular lifestyle. CONCLUSIONS: It has been determined that although the lifestyle is not completely determinant of the Body Mass Index has great influence. The higher the value of the BMI there is a greater inclination to the regular lifestyle
