Impacto psicológico en las madres de niños hospitalizados en la Unidad de Neonatalogía, Cuenca 2017


Abstract:

BACKGROUND: The neonate's hospitalization creates a psychological impact in the mothers since gets interrupted the linkage mother junior and distorts the expectations of the parents of having a healthy son, this situation trigger stress, anxiety and enclosure coming to the depression like answer. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Determining the Psychological Impact in the mothers of children Hospitalized in the Unit of Neonatology, Cuenca 2017. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The population object of study were 104 mothers of children hospitalized in the area of Neonatology of the Hospital “Vicente Corral Moscoso”, whom it were applied opinion polls and test over themselves psychological to measure stress, anxiety and depression. The data processed themselves using SPSS 19.0 being calculated, stockings, frequencies and percentages according to the type of used variable. They used him the statistical Odds Ratio and applied over himself the Kruskall Wallis to compare stockings. RESULTS: The analysis showed that being primiparous mothers, the increase of the days of hospitalization, the need of physical contact with his baby, knowing the pathology that the neonate suffers, as well as that he received enteral nutrition were stressful parameters for the mothers. Bigger and statistically significant levels of anxiety showed the mothers that do not work and the ones that had not had physical contact with the baby. Depression did not evidence significant relation with the analyzed variables. CONCLUSIONS: The hospitalization of newborns in the neonatal unit generates a marked psychological impact on mothers, either in the form of stress and / or anxiety, as well as to a lesser extent of depression.
