Implementación de procesos de anotación semántica de servicios WFS con ontologías de dominio

Abstract:

Currently WFS services are a source of information that is messy and unstructured. That is why there is a need for a information transformation for these services. Since the Internet is migrating towards the semantic web it is timely if not necessary for the migration of WFS services to be made to a semantic repository. The advantages to be derived from this semantic repository would be multiple, among which the most important are: access to information in WFS through semantic queries, structuring the information in triplets and perhaps most important of all would be semantic enrichment with other semantic information repositories. When attempting a Linked Open Data(LOD) process of WFS services several problems rise, among which are the lack of tools that implement the methodology chosen for the afore mentioned process, the lack of descriptive information WFS services, vital for the process of semantic annotation, and the correlation between ontologies and WFS services. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a set of tools that allow the management of information related to a certain geographic place. Another important feature of GIS is the way that the data is published. Usually geographic information is published is published through web services. WFS services are a collection of features that can be accessed through an URL. Web services defined by OGC are described syntactically, this is why to improve the search of these web services need to be semantically annotated but a process needs to be described for this annotation. To annotate WFS services it is recommended to divide the web service in three tiers metadata, layers and instances.
