Abstract:

The objective was to implement a Digital Terrestrial Technology transmitter for the Unimax television channel in the city of Ambato. The equipment necessary for the migration counts with the equipment of plant, of the system of transmission and reception, in the transmission system an encoder is used where the audio and video signal is entered and it is codified under a process that mixes its signals turning into a single output signal digitized in ASI, signal that enters to the modulator where it is recoded with the parameters of the system and proceeds to enter to an amplifier as the last process in the transmitter. The transmitter is connected with a radio frequency (FR) cable to the antennas to send the signal and thereby transmit the signal in its coverage area in the digital open signal channel 23.4. It resulted in a digital signal with very good quality of audio and video, clear and sharp, with this implementation the channel Unimax simultaneously emits analogue and digital signal. All the population that is under the coverage could receive the signal if the receiving equipment complies with the standard ISDB-Tb, otherwise a signal decoder is necessary. The process to migrate the signal from a channel to digital technology is carried out in three phases that will depend on the coverage area. It is expected that with the implementation of the Unimax digital transmitter it will comply the required time limit and be able to integrate services such as high definition (HD) and virtual channel; And the acquisition of the necessary equipment inside the facilities.
