Implementation of a Condition Monitoring Software for Mineral Oil-Immersed Transformers via Dissolved Gas In-Oil Analysis
Abstract:
Monitoring and diagnosing of power transformers inside the electric power system has attracted the consideration of condition-based maintenance for many years. To ensure continuity of the electrical service, it is vital for the utilities to find the incipient faults in power transformers as early as possible. Dissolved-gas analysis (DGA) is able to discriminate between normal and abnormal conditions in transformer's liquid-insulation. The purpose of this paper is to provide computer-based software for interpreting dissolved gases results from mineral oil-immersed transformers using statistical-based analytical tools and fault interpretation methods as Key Gas, Duval Triangle and Pentagons, and Rogers Ratio. To evaluate the software performance, database of 17 samples from a utility were taken, stored, and tested. The software was developed using MATLAB.
