Implementation of a multi-band pifa (Planar inverted f antenna) antenna, with 1.7 ghz and 2.1 ghz slots, for a low-cost radio frequency and microwave laboratory
Abstract:
This paper presents the design, simulation, optimization and implementation of a PIFA (Planar Inverted F Antenna) antenna at 1.7 GHz and 2.1 GHz, which arises from the need to manufacture low-cost PIFA antennas using a traditional procedure and maintaining high radiation characteristics. For the implementation of the antenna, the proposed designs of PIFA antennas with slots are taken as the basis and the necessary calculations were made to determine the geometry of the antenna taking into account the proposed resonance frequencies. To comply with the design parameters, some adjustments were made to the original model; Thus, this contribution can be used in the implementation of PIFA antennas for other applications. The results indicate a low margin of error between the design parameters raised with those obtained in the simulation using the ADS software, and in the verification of the antenna’s operation by means of a vector network analyzer (VNA).
