Improved Double-jump 2 Pulse to Compensate Frequency Offset in MQAM-OFDM Systems
Abstract:
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is severely affected by the frequency offset because of it causes inter-carrier interference (ICI). ICI can be diminished with the assistance of any pulse that complies the 1st Nyquist criterion. In addition, pulses matched between the transmitter and receiver are required in order to synchronize the OFDM symbols. In this work, the improved double-jump 2 (IDJ2) pulse is introduced in overall OFDM schemes prone to frequency offset Following a heuristic approach, the sub-optimum IDJ2 pulse is found in a representative system configuration. For diverse signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), normalized frequency offsets, and subcarrier modulation formats, the proposed pulse is analytically and numerically contrasted with the most recent and best performing Nyquist-I pulses for the first time. Results demonstrate the superiority of the IDJ2 pulse regarding the other pulses in terms of the bit error rate (BER).
