In-vitro resistance pattern of Salmonella typhi.
Abstract:
A retrospective study to determine the in-vitro resistance pattern of Salmonella typhi at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center was done covering the period from October 1988 to August 1992. There were a total of 47 Salmonella typhi isolates during the study period. Forty-five were isolated from blood, one from the stool, and one from the urine. The resistance of Salmonella were as follows: 1/26 or 3.8% for chloramphenicol, 2/30 or 6.7% for ampicillin, 5/44 or 11.4% for co-trimoxazole, 2/39 or 5.1% for ceftriaxone, and 0/40 or 0% for ciprofloxacin.
