Increase of yield and nutritional quality of rice with NPK fertilization complemented with micronutrients.
Abstract:
The aim of this research was to evaluate effect of the NPK fertilization complemented with micronutrients on yield and nutritional quality of rice. An experiment was conducted in ten rice farms in the area of San Jacinto, Rocafuerte, Manabí. In each farm two plots of 100 m2 were established, where one received NPK fertilization+ micronutrients and the other only conventional fertilization with NPK. In both cases, the fertilization dose was 180, 70 and 60 kg ha-1 of N, P and K, respectively. In the first case, compound fertilizers were used that included micronutrients and in the second case, conventional fertilizers. The data were analyzed with the Student t test for paired observations. The main variables recorded were yield and nutritional content of the grain. There was an increase in yield of 36.85% with fertilization based on NPK and micronutrients, in relation to the control treatment with NPK. Similarly, the protein content, Fe and Zn increased by 18.33, 31.58 and 33.33%, respectively, with the application of micronutrients, in contrast to the traditional fertilization with NPK. The results showed that the application of micronutrients contributed significantly to the increase of the yield and quality of the rice grain.
