Indicators of Biodiversity of the Arboreal Component of the Farm Yuyucocha, Ibarra, Ecuador
Abstract:
Yuyucocha Farm belongs to the Technical University of the North, Ibarra, Ecuador, where practices of planting species of forest interest have been developed since their possession by the High Study House. Determine the biodiversity of the arboreal component of the same was the objective of the experience executed in the months of April and May of 2018. A census was made, registering all the trees of the farm with DAP (diameter at the height of 1.30 meters above ground level)≥ 0.10 m and height≥ 5.0 m. Margalef and Menhinicks Index of Wealth Indexes were calculated, as were Simpsons Diversity Indexes, Shannon-Wieners Diversity Index, Hills Diversity Numbers and Simpsons Dominance Index. We also calculated the Pielou and Hill equitability indices and the relative dominance of the species using the structural index. It was found that the introduced species represent 73.6% of the total arboreal component, where the Margalef (DMg) and Menhinick (DMn) Indexes show values of 3.23 and 0.78, respectively. The Shannon index of 2.22 indicates a medium diversity, while the Simpson index of 0.18 offers the non-existence of dominant species, but the calculation of the Simpson diversity index, with the value of 0.82, allows to value the biodiversity as tending to high. On the other hand, while Hills numbers, N1 equal 9.21 and N2 to 5.56, estimate the possibility of finding the number of abundant and very abundant species. The equitability shows a behavior of medium to low, according to the Pielou (E) and Hill indexes, with values of 0.48 and 0.24, respectively. The relative dominance of the species, as an expression of the Structural Index …
