Industrial Training Module As-Interface: a Tool for Education

Abstract:

This paper describes the development of a training module, designed as a tool complementing classroom activities through the practices of materials and industrial networks and industrial automation; this module allows students to propose and evaluate strategies for industrial network connections AS-interface and control prior to implementation in real plant processes. Module development involved 2 stages: 1) the installation and configuration of the AS-i networks, and 2) testing by devices outside the modules that can be connected because of their versatility. At all stages of the design and implementation of the module involved students studying electrical engineering. Validation module operation was performed by PI control of a pneumatic cylinder, control is implemented in the proposed PLC module. The cylinder is piloted by a servo valve.
