Inferring ties for social-aware ambient intelligence: The facebook case

Abstract:

This paper proposes a cloud-based solution to social-aware Ambient Intelligence. The proposal uses the common space of the cloud to gather evidence of social ties among users, turning the social cloud into a bridge between smart spaces that adapt themselves according to, not only the situational information in the physical space, but also to the social sphere of the user. As case instance of the approach, we detail the estimation of social ties from the interaction activity of Facebook users. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
