Information and Communication Technologies in student academic achievement

Abstract:

Education is a dynamic process in which the results are successful when there is an excellent interaction between its main actors: teachers, students and educational institutions. The aim of this research is to examine the incidence of information and communication technologies on the academic performance of 315 students who took the subject of Financial Mathematics in the degree of the Business Administration during the academic period 2019 – 2020. For this purpose, a mean hypothesis test was applied and the academic performance of those students who were taught the subject in a traditional way was compared with those who use technological tools in the subject. The results of this study confirm that students who used technological tools in the classroom have a better academic performance than those students who do not use them in the teaching-learning process. The conclusions of this research show the importance of technological tools in education and are intended to complement future studies aimed at determining the factors that explain academic performance.
