Information retrieval model for open educational resources

Abstract:

In the field of higher education, students and teachers need information that allows them to facilitate and improve their education. For this reason, the web is one of the most useful information sources nowadays. Unfortunately, when a student requires information on a specific topic, traditional search engines do not search for what the student really needs. Due to this problem, many organizations have implemented repositories of open educational resources, but the main disadvantage that these have, is that they are scattered, and even unknown. So, this article presents a proposal to identify open educational resources in the repositories through an extraction process that includes the obtaining of metadata and description of each of the resources in its natural language, and later with a recommendation strategy analyze each one of the resources.
