Innovation for capacity building on sustainability of natural resources in indigenous populations and mestizo colonies: Yasuní biosphere reserve
Abstract:
Information and communication technologies (ICT) allow access, production, treatment and communication; the precarious strengthening of training in areas of high cultural and biological diversity has generated the sociocultural, economic and governance degradation of vulnerable peoples, causing unsustainable use of natural resources. The objective: strengthening the capacities at the individual, household and community levels in terms of sustainability of natural resources to indigenous populations and colonies, defining two case studies based on the snowball sampling method. The communities: Nampaweno (Indigenous-Waorani) and Pearl of the Amazon (Mestiza-Colona), located Yasuní Biosphere Reserve, the SAFA tool (version 2.4.1) was used to assess sustainability in social, environmental, economic and governance dimensions, it was identified that the use of ICT allows designing sustainable interventions to strengthen capacities and propose training modules based on the needs found.
