Instrucciones para la vida. Entrevista a Lucía Calamaro


Abstract:

Lucía Calamaro is an actress, director and playwright. Although she was born in Rome, as a teenager she traveled to Montevideo with her family because of her father's work as a diplomat. In Uruguay she began her theatrical training, which she continued at the Sorbonne University, where she was a disciple of the mime Jacques Lecoq.  In addition, together with sociologist Jean Duvignaud and Jean-Marie Pradier, she is co-founder of Ethnoscenology (a discipline focused on the comparative study of live performances). In Rome she obtained a postgraduate degree in Ancient Dramaturgy and Versification. There she founded the Malebolge company, rehearsing in small theaters and social centers. Thus his first plays were born: "Tumore", of great poetic depth. And then, Autobiography of shame. From her next project, "The origin of the world", she began to be better known, being this play rebroadcast in radio version, on Radio 3 Rai and on France Culture. The origin of the world, in fact, received three Ubu Awards, and the Enriquez Award for direction. Also with La vita fermi she was a finalist for best text at the Ubu Awards, and in 2019 she won the Hystrio Award for dramaturgy. This year she has been appointed president of the jury of the Riccione Theater Award, and also created this year the school of dramaturgy "Escritura", in collaboration with important Italian theaters, which she directs. Also, her play Darwin inconsolable (a piece for souls in pain), debuted at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, in this 2021.
