Instructional technologies and the internet: Options and possibilities for Heographic Information Science education

Abstract:

Technology advances in the Internet specifically and multimedia approaches generally pose great potential for teaching GISc (Geographic Information Science) courses. This potential brings with it both conceptual and operational issues that require consideration and long-range planning in order to effectively implement the new technology as pedagogical tools. The relevant issues surrounding this implementation in an academic setting are discussed with particular attention to issues surrounding access, confidentiality, educational paradigms, and logistical requirements.
