Interconnection using GPON technology in an intelligent city: Case study Ciudad de Loja (Ecuador)

Abstract:

This article is oriented in the study of networks, and its contribution to smart cities. We began with the diagnostic of the current situation of the city of Loja regarding the use of GPON, the applications of optical fiber in telecommunications, and in general the integration of traditional networks with GPON technology. A brief study of the GPON standards based on the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) G.984.X standards it was included, thus regulating the structure of the network and its characteristics.
